Easy ways to boost your immune system

The immune system is an amazing network of cells and proteins which protects humans from invaders such as viruses, fungi, and bacteria. Those with a properly functioning immune system will not typically notice it doing its job. They may have an occasional cough or sniffle, but it is not that noticeable.

However, the immune system can malfunction in one of two ways: it can become overly aggressive toward potential (but generally non-threatening) invaders as we see in allergies and autoimmune diseases, or it can become under-reactive to active invaders (like colds and the flu) as we might see in immune deficiency diseases such as HIV. Either extreme is problematic.

The primary goal of good health is to have an immune system which functions "just right" -- not too much, not too little. A good balance is the desired end result. What are some ways to boost one's immune system to achieve this balance?
