Easy grain free spiced pecans recipe

spiced pecans

This is a savoury twist on the classic candied nuts you might see at shopping mall kiosks. The addition of the savoury spices will warm this enough to give a slight kick to this high-protein snack. I recommend using Indonesian cinnamon for this if you have it as it blends well with the other spices.

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F.

In a mixing bowl, whip together the egg white and water until frothy.

In a separate mixing bowl, sift together all dry ingredients.

Add pecan halves to egg whites, stirring to coat the nuts as evenly as possible. Remove the nuts from the egg whites, and toss them in the spice mixture until coated.

Line one large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the nuts out on the prepared baking sheet enough that they aren't clumped together.

Bake at 250 degrees F for 1 hour. Stir thoroughly every 15 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let cool and harden up for at least one hour. They are cool enough when they no longer feel sticky.

Note: This recipe will work with pretty much any nut large enough to be sold as "halves" (walnuts, for example). Don't try it with "pieces" however as they are too small to eat comfortably.
